Multiplication and division problems

WALT: Understand division strategies

For this task, I needed to complete these maths word problems by doing the equation working out and the answer. My favourite part when working out the problems was figuring them out in my head and writing down what I got and moving on to the next problem.  Maybe next time I could use a different strategy to work out the problems.

Creating my own 3D pencil holder

WALT: Create and design a 3D pencil holder

Yesterday on Wednesday I went to Kaitaia Intermediate to go to an ICT class and I had to create a 3D pencil holder on a site called Sketchup and that is also where you can make many other 3D objects that can be 3D printed. I've finished the pencil holder but I have to have some design for the 3D object and personalize it and so far I have just added my name to the pencil holder. My favourite part when creating this 3D object was watching the videos and following what to do on the app. Maybe next time I could I could research about designs I could do on the 3D object.

Zach´s hike

WALT: Write 110 words in 10 minutes

This week I had to write 110 words in 10 minutes and write about any topic and I chose a story about a boy who loved adventures. My favorite part when writing my story was using speech marks to make the character's words look better than without speech marks. Maybe next time I could write what happened to the family after their adventure in the forest

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved to have adventures in his nearby forest and the boy's name was Zach. One day Zach had woken up to his parents saying that they were going on a hike in the forest. Zach jumped out of the bed excited and asked ¨ When are we going?¨. ¨ soon, very soon¨ Zach´s mum replied.

Zach then got prepared he had breakfast had a shower and then he was ready to go on the hike in the forest. Once they arrived at the forest they had gotten all their stuff out of the car and started to hike the forest. About 1 quarter through the hike they had stopped to have a rest. They had some food had a drink and once they had finished their rest they went back on the hike. After about 45 minutes of them hiking they had finally reached the end of their adventure through the forest. They were cheering so happy that they had finally finished the hike. After a while they sat on a log had finally ad a good rest. The end.

This week I had to create my own maths word problem. My favourite part when creating maths word problems was finding different strategies people could work out the problems. I found it challenging to put in the images for the word problem and make it easier for the viewer. Maybe next time I could use division or multiplication for the working out.

For this task, I needed to research a worldwide problem, and I chose global warming. Then we had to break it down into what the cause of the problem is, what the size of the problem is, and describe the worldwide problem. Maybe next time I could add some more detail about describing the problem.

For this task, I needed to read an article about living things in their habitat. My favourite part when completing this article was writing down the things I learned that stood out most in the article. Maybe next time I could add one more thing that I learned in the article.

I learned that when bees fly away with pollen they carry it on their feet and wings. I also learned that flowers don't have any other way to give pollen to other flowers.

For this task, I needed to solve maths word problems and choose which number/ decimal point answers the equation. My favourite part when solving the maths problems was using a strategy called place value partitioning. Maybe next time I could use another strategy to work out the multi-choice maths problems.

Lost and found

WALT: Practice reading using key reading strategies

For this task, I needed to read an article a day about mammals around the world called Lost and found. My favourite part was reading the article and learning lots of things from it. Maybe next time I could add another thing about the article Lost and found.

I learned that Beehler and his team didn't have enough time on the expedition to study the area. I also learned that the scientists found out that the creature they saw was a type of Honeyeater.

This week we are learning about Niue language week and finding out 3 words in Niue. I like Niue language week because we learn new Niuean words and we learn about their culture. Maybe next time I could add some more Niuean words and say what they mean.

Tikanga in the classroom

WALT: Create a D.L.O about Tikanga in the classroom

For this task, I needed to make a slide talking about Tikanga in the classroom. M favourite part making this was finding images and placing them as the background. Maybe next time I could add more detail on how to show Tikanga in the classroom. During this task, I learned many other ways to show Tikanga in the classroom and I had written down some of them  that standed out most to me.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Ngairon and he was known for being the best biker and he rid his bike every single day even at night. One night Ngairon was out riding bikes with his friends until a bright light flew past them so they decided to go investigate.

Once they arrived at where the strange light landed the saw a weird metal box with a language written all over it which they didn't understand. They then decided to take it back to Ngairon's house. As they were carrying it they realized the box was super heavy. Once Ngairon and his friends got to his house they placed the box on the living room table and started looking around it.

They started poking the box with whatever they could find like a fork, jandal, and even their own hands but nothing had happened. when they thought was completely useless it started hovering...

The old man

He found himself sweating while hearing the faint footsteps racing towards him. He got out of his bed making his way to the kitchen. After he had eaten his breakfast he got changed and started his day off.


He was just feeding his dogs until a white Rollsroyce came into his driveway. One man came out wearing a black tuxedo and plain black glasses. He came towards the old man. He then said to him ¨Excuse me sir this is the FBI, I’m gonna need you to come with me¨ So the old man listened and went into the car.


They kept driving down a road until they went into a building that looked like it had been abandoned for a very long time. They walked inside going down all the steps until they reached the bottom floor. The old man then asked ¨umm excuse where are we?¨ But all he replied with was ¨home¨...

For this task, I needed to read an article about Nonrenewable energy sources and I had to write down two things I learned in my book of knowledge. I enjoyed reading this because I got to learn a lot from the article. Maybe next time I could write more about what I learned.

I learned that there are 4 nonrenewable energy sources and they are crude oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium or nuclear energy. I also learned that we use oil to make liquid products like gasoline.

The Kina

WALT: Write 100 words in 10 minutes.

For this task, I needed to write 100 words or over in ten minutes and choose any topic and I went with a story about a kina. My favourite part making this was writing my own sentences and making the story a little more interesting. Maybe next time I could explain more about the ending of the story.

Once upon a time in Shipwreck Bay, New Zealand, there was a kina that was never noticed. He saw all his friends being taken out the water but people never noticed him so he would just sit under the seaweed waiting for someone to pick him.

The kina was slowly getting sad, but just as he thought no one was going to pick him and he thought he would always be alone, he saw a hand reaching down from the water moving towards him. But then all of a sudden he felt like he was being pulled up out of the water and thought he was about to be free. Until he was dropped and sunk to the bottom of the deep lonely rock pool.

For this task, I needed to know how many tens there are in numbers and write down the answers in the opposite boxes e.g 491 has 49 tens. I enjoyed writing down my answers and finding out the numbers. Maybe next time I could make the picture more clear to see.

For this task, I had to read an article and then write two sentences about what I learned from the topic and mine was the Earth's moon: In-depth.


I learned that the earth-moon is the first place they stepped on other than earth. I also learned that the moon is 1,079.6 miles away or 1,737.5 kilometers away.

For this task, I needed to write a 100-word story in ten minutes and my story is based on jack and the giant beanstalk

As they were pulling up into their new home they were all tired so they decided to have a nap. Once they woke up Jack was feeling sad because the mountain he always loved was taken away. Not long later a random earthquake happened well that's what everyone thought but it was actually a giant beanstalk going over the clouds. It was so terrifying, it had lots of giant green leaves sticking out, giant branches, and lots of horrors. But the only person to notice this was a jack and for some, he had the great idea to climb the beanstalk and seal all his questioning. To be continued. . .

For this task, I had to read an article called Quebec sugar season and write 2 things I learned in my book of knowledge.

I learned that from the end of February through the spring province will celebrate the sap from maple trees. I also learned that visitors are invited to take sleigh rides through the forest.

For this task, I wanted to draw something simple so I drew A vehicle called the GX22. 


This is a vehicle I like to call the GX22 made in 2020 and can hit a speed of 500mph and has won thousands of world records and races.

2 months ago in room 5, we were learning to create some art and it was called caricatures. Caricatures are basically self-portraits but emphasizing something that stands out in your face by making it larger or making it stand out more. The thing that I emphasized on my face was my nose and it looked pretty funny.

For this task, I had to read the Maori words and then translate them to English words. To do that I went to the Maori dictionary online and translated the Maori words then typed the meaning of the English words.

The Grand Canyon

WALT:  Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts.

I learned that the Grand Canyon stretches for 277 miles or 445.788 km.
I also learned that the cliffs of the Grand Canyon are made of brown, red, and yellow rocks and sand.

For this task, I had to read the article about the Grand Canyon and write 2 sentences about what I learned.  Next time I could read more of the text and write a little bit more of what I learned.

What is coronavirus?

Once upon a time in 1596, there was a kid named
Artemis fowl and he was a smart boy.

One night while Artemis and his family were sleeping
Artemis woke up to a crashing sound in his
backyard so he went outside to see what it was.

As soon as he went to his backyard he saw nothing
there so then he wondered to
himself what was that crashing sound he heard earlier.
Not long after he saw a bright glow in the middle of
the backyard and then that turned into a spaceship.

COVID-19

WALT: We are writing paragraphs and subtitles about COVID-19

What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a virus that has spread from China and it has killed lots of people. COVID-19 is also something that needs to be prevented from spreading around the world and it needs to be stopped.

Where did COVID-19 come from?
COVID-19 came from china and it started as an outbreak and was a big disaster which meant lots of cities had to be quarantined because of the outbreak and people were not really sure what to do about it.

How there was an outbreak.
It took a while for people to know how to prevent it but when they found out what to do during that time they were thinking the outbreak just got way worse and people started to get really sick and some were ill at the time.

this week in room five we have been learning how to make poems with petedelete and we had lots of fun and here's my poem

I wish I was fast to make my best friend last my wish came true but when we started I tripped over a Rubik's cube as I got up crying in tears my friend came to me and said don't worry you can ty next year.

And there's my poem hoped you enjoyed it
